On Monday May 9, four students from Board District 7 were honored with the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools award. Omar Solano and Kevin Maurice from Markham Middle School, De’jon Sutphen from Gompers Middle School, and Gary Gayle from Carver Middle School received the award from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and along with ten other students from other schools, will all be part Melanie Lundquist Fellows Program.
These students will participate in the program because they have shown they have excellent abilities that will lead to a future in leadership. The program includes a scholarship, various opportunities for them to meet leaders of Los Angeles. Staff from Board Member Dr. Vladovic’s office were there to present the students with a certificate and remind them not to give up on all there hard work.
