Assemblyman Furutani joins LAUSD Board Member Vladovic's Staff at Banning High School For Career Tech Ed Best Practices Demonstration

Assemblyman Furutani joins LAUSD Board Member Vladovic's Staff at Banning High School For Career Tech Ed Best Practices Demonstration.  The event was inspired by Banning High School's exemplary implementation of Career Tech Ed curriculum and classes offered.  The Assemblyman and State Superintendent of Education Tom Torlakson were on hand to call for support of legislation that would give students credits toward graduation for one career-technical course in lieu of a required foreign language or arts course.    We thank the Assemblyman and the State Superintendent of Public Education for visiting our school and recognizing the great work happening at Banning High School.

On another note, as finances continue to decline for our District, Dr. Vladovic's staff as well as the LAUSD Superintendent Dr. John Deasy, continued to lobby the State Superintendent to push back the CELDT testing date so the District as well as other Districts in the state, can reclassify more ELD students in our District while providing adequate preparation time as the current exam happens in the beginning of the school year.

As the budget continues to worsen, it is also very important that the parents and elected officials of our District put pressure on the State to ensure that the State pays the district what it owes us instead of providing IOU's and forcing our District to borrow money to pay the bills.  Currently, the State owes the District over $100 million dollars.
